Cusp-a point of transition, as from one historical period to the next;
the borders between the twelve astrological signs.
You are considered to be "on the cusp" if you were born
within a day or two of the beginning or end of any sign.

Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent

Father,
may the coming celebration of the birth of your Son
bring us your saving help
and prepare us for eternal life.
from Christian Prayer

O Antiphons

Tomorrow at Evening Prayer the "O Antiphons" begin. The antiphon introduces the Canticle of Mary or the Magnificat. They may have been recited as early as the Fifth Century, but they were in use at Rome by the Eighth Century. Today they are most commonly heard in the popular Advent hymn, "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel."
